Coastal homes offer a highly desirable lifestyle and can be some of the most rewarding properties to live in. However, building in coastal environments requires careful consideration due to the unique conditions associated with these locations.

One of the primary concerns for coastal properties is the corrosive effect of airborne salt, which can significantly impact the performance and longevity of exterior building materials. As a result, material selection and product specification are especially important for homes located near the ocean or other saltwater environments.

For properties in coastal areas, garage doors must be engineered to withstand these harsher conditions and minimise the risk of corrosion and damage to both the home and the valuable items stored within.

Based on our firsthand experience and industry research, we have developed this Coastal Upgrade Pack for all garage doors installed within 1,500 metres of the ocean or any body of salt water.

Regardless of the type of garage door selected, regular maintenance is essential. We strongly recommend routinely washing down the garage door and its seals, where salt deposits can accumulate, to help reduce the effects of salt air exposure and prolong the life of your door.
